Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum (1 oz, $80) is an ultra-light gel serum used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. The Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum is packed with a proprietary blend of fruit stem cells infused into a vitamin C, resveratrol-rich grapeseed formula to help boost and enhance skin tone and texture. Juice Beauty's Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum is ideal for all skin types and especially beneficial for skin showing signs of aging. This serum is vegan, made with a certificated organic ingredient and formulated without parabens, petroleum, propylene or butylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfates, pesticides, phthalates, artificial dyes or synthetic fragrances.

One of the things you may be wondering about the Juice Beauty Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum is whether there is a difference between a “serum” and a “booster serum”. According to this article, a booster is a “much more concentrated selection of ingredients designed to treat specific concerns.” But this article says that serums, ampoules and boosters are all the same thing – skin treatments – and the word used is mostly a marketing tactic to make different skincare products sound special. In the case of the Juice Beauty Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum, which uses both “booster” and “serum” in its name, I agree with the second article and believe that the use of both terms is a marketing tactic.

Another thing you may be wondering is, what are stem cells and how are they used in skincare? I found answers to both these questions on the Dermstore Blog and according to Dr. Sejal Shah, a dermatologist quoted in the article, “stem cells are rapidly dividing cells in the body that have the ability to give rise to more stem cells or become other types of cells with more specialized function.” Stem cells derived from plants and animals contain amino acids and peptides, which are powerful ingredients for skin rejuvenation. Dr. Michele Green, another dermatologist cited in the article, explains that “stem cells naturally have antioxidant properties and they nourish skin cells which promotes cell turnover and increases collagen production.” All this means it that products containing stem cells could result in fewer lines and wrinkles, improved skin texture and tone, and younger, more beautiful skin. In the article, Dr. Eve Lupenko states that plant-based stem cells in skincare products repair the skin at the deeper cellular level, while most other non-stem cell products are unable to penetrate those areas of skin cells. Although there is disagreement among dermatologists as to whether stems cells in skincare products are more effective than non-stem cell products, there is potential in using stem cells in conjunction with other treatments to get the best results. But if you are interested in trying a skin care product that contains stem cells, Green recommends skincare products that use plant-based, rather than animal based, stem cells because there is more research into the efficacy of plant-based stem cells.

In addition to fruit stem cells, the Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum also contains a resveratrol-rich grapeseed formula. Resveratrol is another powerhouse skincare ingredient because it is a natural antioxidant that can be found in grape skin, peanuts, berries and even dark chocolate. In skincare products, resveratrol works by neutralizing free radicals, thereby reducing and slowing the signs of aging. Basically, Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum contains the necessary ingredients for a powerful anti-aging serum.

My Take

I received the Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum in my Ipsy Glam Bag Plus subscription box but I was so overwhelmed with skincare products that I gave it to a friend and asked her to give me her honest review. My friend has normal skin and she used the Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum for one month before sending me her review. With her permission, I have reproduced her review of the booster serum below.

The Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum has a lightweight, non-greasy, white cream/lotion texture with a very faint citrus scent. The packaging is very nice and appealing, and the pump dispenses the correct amount of the serum, so that there is no waste. However, I think the packaging gives the illusion there is more product than there actually is, because after one month of using it in the PM, it is almost finished. I used the serum in the evening as part of my skincare routine after my oil cleanser and AHA toner. I then follow the Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum with my prescription retinoid and end my routine with a moisturizer.

The Juice Beauty Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum definitely helps hydrate my skin, but I did not notice any visible changes in wrinkles. I liked the packaging, ease of use, the fact that not too much product dispensed with each use and its lack of fragrance. I do not like the price point, especially since it only hydrates the skin because there are less expensive moisturizers on the market.

Overall, I think the Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum is a good serum but I’m not sure it’s better than others on the market or worth $80. I would recommend it to those looking for a vegan product and want to add a hydrating serum to their routine, but I didn’t notice a dramatic difference in my skin tone, texture or wrinkles, once I added it to my routine.
