MINTD Box Review

Updated: Aug 23

The latest subscription box to arrive in my mailbox is MINTD Box. MINTD Box is a monthly/bi-monthly luxury skincare subscription box from the UK that offers 4-5 full or deluxe sample size beauty products per box. It is the premier subscription box for those who want to try high end skincare for a fraction of the cost. But if you don’t want to commit to a subscription, you can spend a bit more money to purchase their special edition or curated boxes on their website without a subscription.

How it Works

MINTD Box offers 5 different beauty plans. The monthly and bimonthly plans both cost £70 and the monthly subscription is billed every month and the bimonthly is billed every 2 months and you can subscribe at any time. They also offer 3 month, 6 month and 12 months fixed term subscriptions, which automatically renew on the 1st of the month. The 3-month plan costs £205.50, the 6 month plan costs £411 and the 12 month plan costs £822. I choose the 3-month subscription plan because new subscribers to any of the fixed term plans receive a free gift. When I subscribed, I received a full-size bottle of Aurelia’s Probiotic Skincare Firm and Revitalize Dry Body Oil with my box. The free gift for new subscribers changes regularly, so you may not get the same free gift I received but I am sure it will not disappoint. To opt out of the renewal of the fixed term plans, you need to request a cancellation before the 24th of the final month. Otherwise, you will be automatically rebilled on the 1st of the month. But like most other subscription boxes, if you really want to try MINTD Box without the commitment, you can purchase individual boxes from their gift store, but note that the cost of these boxes will be a bit more than if you were a subscriber.

Getting MINTD Box

After I chose my subscription plan, MINTD Box has you do a quick beauty profile where you tell which products you are most interested in, the choices are; skincare, bath and body, makeup, haircare, nails or tools and accessories. This ensures that you get the products you are most interested in and helps you get the most out of your subscription. I signed up for MINTD Box on June 19th and my first box was shipped a few days later on June 22nd and arrived at my house in Utah on June 29th. And just so you know, you have to sign for your package, so make sure someone is at home to receive your MINTD box.

The box and packaging are so beautifully done, and the products (sans their boxes) are carefully packaged in bubble wrap, so that your products do not break or spill on its journey. The month I started by subscription, MINTD Box was doing a special box featuring only MZ Skin products and it was fantastic. I received 5 MZ Skin products in all, 2 full sized products (the AHA cleanser and the eye complex) and 3 super deluxe sized products and my free full sized Aurelia Dry Body Oil. Here is the list of the items I received:

What I Liked and Didn’t Like

I love MINTD Box! I could gush about it all day. I love the quality of the products they send – expect high end products in every single box. I love that the products are either full sized or super deluxe size, which in the box I received, I wouldn’t have been able to tell that the super deluxe sized products weren’t actually full size unless they had told me. I also love that the boxes are curated to your preferences, I wanted only skincare and that I what I received in my first box and also in this month’s box which has already shipped. I can’t say what the makeup, hair or body care products are like because I did not ask for those items in my beauty profile, but if the skincare box is any indication, I would bet that those boxes are very nice as well.

My main critique of MINTD Box is that I have to pay for shipping, which cost £19.50 for the 3 month subscription. Basically, they charge the cost of shipping all three boxes upfront. It is a lot for shipping, but I love this box so much that I just swallow the cost but if MINTD Box ever offered free shipping to the US, I would give this box a score of 100. Another thing about MINTD that I wouldn’t say is a dislike but is unfortunate, is that MINTD Box does not sell the products that they send in their boxes. In other words, if I loved a product in my subscription box and wanted to buy another one, I would have to purchase it from another retailer because MINTD Box does not sell individual products. Also, please note that MINTD Box does not always ship products in their original packaging, in cases where the product boxes cannot fit inside the standard MINTD Box, the products will come individually wrapped in bubblewrap. This means that instructions on how to use products, along with their ingredient list etc. are found in the MINTD Box package insert, so don't throw the package insert away! Otherwise you will have to look up the product online to get directions on how to use it and what it is used for.

The Verdict

I love this box and I plan to renew my subscription once my 3 month fixed term ends. MINTD Box is the only way I would ever try some of these brands/products and I love that because their products are either full or deluxe sample size, I get enough product to make an informed opinion. So, although MINTD Box is pricey, if you want to get serious about your skincare and have a few dollars to spend, I highly, highly recommend MINTD Box.
